Some like them with sprinkles, some like them plain and others like them topped with bacon! I'm talking about doughnuts or is it donuts? Friday, the doughy, tasty goodness is to be celebrated with National Doughnut Day on Friday, June 5!
So how did this day come to be? Well, it actually goes back to Donut Lassies in World War I, who were female Salvation Army volunteers during the Great Depression The Lassies would bring donuts to soldiers, mend clothing and more! Here's a great backgroundon the Salvation Army's website. While you are there, print out some fabulous coloring pages for the kids. Salvation Army will be honoring frontline workers with free deliveries on Friday.
Krispy Kreme: You don't have to wait until Friday to get a free donut at Krispy Kreme; they've actually been offering them free all week!
Sprinkles Donut Shop: Call before 3pm on Thursday, June 4 to place your order and your dozen of donuts turns into a baker's dozen....meaning 13! Check their Facebook page for one of their locations.
Bro's Doughs: Are you that person who cuts the donut in half, only to go back and keep on cutting it in half? Well, throw that theory out the window! You MUST try Bro's Doughs, 2042 E. Beltline, Ave. Grand Rapids. Follow them on Facebook! They even offer delivery options.
