ALLEGAN, Mich. — Perrigo Company is using its New York facility to produce 500,000 bottles of hand sanitizer to donate to hospitals and first responders in West Michigan and the New York City area.

“We have a special responsibility to do everything in our power to assist those in need, said Perrigo president and CEO Murray S. Kessler in a release.

The company says it quickly ramped up production of hand sanitizer when it learned of shortages, and formulated, produced, and shipped it in just a few weeks.

Allegan General Hospital, Spectrum Health Hospitals, and Michigan State Police were among the West Michigan recipients, along with a number of healthcare providers in the New York/New Jersey/Connecticut region.
