DUTTON, Mich. — Railtown Brewing is about to turn six years old, but there won’t be any big celebration. That’s hard to do when you only see your customers when they pick up their orders and leave.
You know. Pandemic.
“Prior to the pandemic, we never really did more than five to 10 takeout orders on a weekend,” notes co-founder Justin Buiter. “Right now, it's 100 percent of our business.”
“It's been a challenge. Our staff has been up to the challenge, and I couldn't be more proud of them.”
Buiter and his partner probably never thought this was the kind of challenge they would face when they started Railtown Brewing at 3595 68th St. SE.
“We're just two guys that left IT careers to follow a dream to follow a passion. So, to be doing what we've been doing for the last six years, it's been it's been amazing. It's been a great ride. And we hope this is a this (pandemic) is just a little bump in the road.”
After six years, their first brew is still a favorite: Citra Warrior. "It's one of my partner's oldest homebrew recipes," says Justin. "That's one we've brewed since the beginning and continue to brew today."
