WYOMING, Mich. — West Michigan's largest car show is back. The 28th Street Metro Cruise returns to Rogers Plaza in Wyoming on Friday, August 21 and Saturday, August 22, bringing thousands of classic car enthusiasts and collectors to 28th Street for a multi-day celebration of automotive culture.

Metro Cruise hours run 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday.

There will be over ten thousand cars coming through the weekend.

The main event will feature a collector car row, voting for Miss Metro Cruise 2026, kids activities, giveaways, and over 20 food trucks. The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile will also make an appearance on Friday from 3 to 8 p.m., where visitors can purchase Wienermobile merchandise.

Event Director Brandon Simmons said the scale of the event is hard to overstate.

"We pack Rogers Plaza end to end, so almost a quarter mile of collector car row, along with all the other food vendors, and sponsor vendors, and live music and such. But over the weekend, we estimate there's 12 to 15,000 collector cars that travel 28th Street," Simmons said.

Bryan Crane has attended the Metro Cruise for 3 years and brings his 2003 Ford Mustang Cobra to share with fellow car enthusiasts. He said the variety on display is part of what makes the event special.

"You got everything here. You literally got everything from race cars to show cars to army trucks, I mean literally everything. It's kind of like a like the Dream Cruise only here on the west side," Crane said.

For Crane, the reaction from the crowd is just as rewarding as the cars themselves.

"Putting smiles on people's faces is one of the things I love about that car, and, you know, giving giving the the people something to smile about, for sure," Crane said.

The event draws fans of all ages. Shawn and his son Milo make it an annual tradition.

"We try to come down every year and check out all the cool cars," Shawn said. "We're lucky to have this in our town and it's not too far from home. We can come down and just check everything out."

Milo had a clear favorite among the cars on display.

"The sparkling lowrider," Milo said. "I like the color and the paint and the hydraulics."

Now in its 21st year, Shawn said the event has grown well beyond its roots.

"It didn't used to be anything like this. All these vendors and everyone coming out. So, you know, that's an added benefit to the whole thing is these businesses get to get to do all this business and make some money," Shawn said.

Simmons said the timeless appeal of cars is what keeps Metro Cruise thriving year after year.

Each site will feature collector cars, food, car-related entertainment, family-friendly activities, and the chance to purchase Metro Cruise merchandise.
