GREENVILLE, Mich — When we first met Bree Town in 2012, she was busy paying it forward to sick kids, not knowing that she would become very sick. After being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, FOX 17 followed Town as she searched for a donor and eventually underwent a life-saving bone marrow transplant at age 10.

Now 16, Town is celebrating six years in remission by organizing a project to help patients at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital.

On Facebook, she explained "Help me celebrate! Add something from my “wish” amazon list, and I will donate it to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Child Life. Without Child Life, I do not think some kids would survive. They keep you motivated to keep on fighting through your disease. They use creative ways to get kids to eat and to drink again. Also to get them to take their meds! I know, because I was there for over 365 days fighting cancer. I was isolated in a hospital room and child life was a “rainbow in a storm for me”. Help me bless more kids like me!!"

Within days, packages began to pile up at her Greenville residence.

Town plans to drop them off Monday, February 17 during her six years in remission appointment.

"I just really like giving, it makes me happy to give, it makes me feel better when I give," Town told FOX 17. "It just feels like the right thing to do, to thank people."

Now a high school sophomore, Town is driving, cheerleading and busy being a part of her dance team. But, she will never forget the people, and place that helped her survive.

"It's really a miracle," said her mother Jennifer. "To watch your child come out of something like that has been really inspiring...I'm so proud of her."
