LANSING, Mich. — The State of Michigan is accepting donations from citizens to support the state’s various efforts to respond to the coronavirus pandemic.

Donations will be applied to essential activities along with supplying food and water during response efforts and supporting efforts in educating children, noted the State Emergency Operations Center in a release.

Some federal resources require matching funds from states, and donations from the public can be applied as matching funds, the center noted.

“Whether you give your time, talent, financial support, or other resources, everyone can stand tall and contribute in some way,” Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist was credited as saying in the release.

The process for distributing funds will be based on critical needs and done through the State Emergency Operations Center.
