Man found guilty in trial for the death of toddler in Portage

PORTAGE, Mich. — A jury has found 32-year-old Brandon Sullivan guilty of Murder charges relating to the death of 18-month-old Jacob Flowers in 2022.

Sullivan's charges include Felony Murder and First-Degree Child Abuse. On December 15, 2022, The Portage Department of Public Safety responded to an apartment complex for reports of an unresponsive toddler. Officers found Jacob Flowers unresponsive, and he died a day later after receiving medical care. Authorities established that Flowers was in Sullivan's care earlier that day.

Brandon Sullivan is scheduled to be sentenced on November 21, 2025.
