GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A woman has pleaded no contest to drug charges for filling prescriptions written for her deceased son.

Michelle Koets entered the plea Wednesday to a charge of obtaining a controlled substance by false representation. She is scheduled to be sentenced March 17.

Koets’ husband, Timothy, is also charged for filling prescriptions after their 16-year-old son Samuel died in March 2019. Prosecutors said they obtained the drugs and took them.

Timothy Koets is also facing charges of involuntary manslaughter and child abuse for Samuel’s downing death. He was found unresponsive in the family’s pool with his arms bound.
