GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — One man is dead after driving his car into several trees Tuesday morning.
The 59-year-old from Otsego died at the scene off of Chicago Drive, West of Port Sheldon Road, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office.
Witnesses told investigators that the Chevrolet Express Van was in the passing lane headed east on Chicago Drive when it started to merge into the right lane, then went off the road. The van hit a number of trees before stopping near the Ottawa County Road Commission building.
First responders found the man pinned inside.
Deputies say speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.
