HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A woman was hospitalized after being shot in the face Wednesday. The armed suspect is now in custody.
The initial call to 911 was for a domestic dispute at an apartment at 517 136th Avenue just after 3 p.m. Police found the 29-year-old and took her to the hospital where she was reportedly awake and able to talk.
When police arrived, the suspect, 31-year-old Willie Thomas Riley, jumped out of a second story balcony and tried to run away through a wooded area nearby.
Because they believed Riley was armed, police asked people in the area to shelter-in-place. Riley was taken into custody shortly before 5 p.m. and a firearm believed to be the weapon involved was found by police.
Three children under 10 years old were in the apartment at the time. They were not injured during the shooting and are with family now.
Captain Mark Bennett tells FOX 17 Riley was taken into custody without incident and is being treated for minor injuries from the chase.
