GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Convicted murderer Jeffrey Willis is appealing for a new trial for the death of Jessica Heeringa.
Tuesday, his attorney and a representative of the state presented oral arguments in front of a panel of judges with the Michigan Court of Appeals.
Willis is serving two life sentences, one for the murder of Jessica Heeringa, who disappeared in April 2013. The other for the death of Rebekah Bletsch, who was found dead in June 2014.
The Court of Appeals has not made a decision on the appeal.
