Muskegon County confirms third coronavirus case

MUSKEGON, Mich. — Muskegon County has confirmed its third positive case of COVID-19.

The county's most recent case is a male child who doesn't have a travel history. Public Health Muskegon County has been in contact with people who have made close contact with the boy and will be monitoring them for symptoms.

"This is a strong reminder that COVID-19 can affect people of all ages," Muskegon County health officer Kathy Moore said in a release. "It is important that everyone practice social distancing, follow all public health orders and work together to slow the spread of this illness."

Michigan's case total as of Tuesday neared 1,800. Detroit has been the hardest hit area with 563 cases and eight deaths.

In West Michigan, the highest total is in Kent County with 31 cases and one death.
