WASHINGTON, D.C. — United Airlines service between Kalamazoo and Chicago O’Hare airport is likely to be suspended after the U.S. Department of Transportation granted the airline permission to stop service.

USDOT issued a long list of exemptions it has granted to airlines freeing them from their commitment to serve certain cities until September 30. The coronavirus pandemic has reduced air passenger traffic by as much as 90 percent and more.

United service to Kalamazoo is on that list.

The Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport is normally served by flights on United, Delta, and American airlines to and from Detroit and Chicago.
