KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety is hiring more officers, according to a news release Wednesday.

Applications open Nov. 2 and will be open until the end of the day Nov. 20.

The application process includes an application, a written test, a physical agility test, a background investigation and several interviews throughout the process.

No previous experience is required and the department will provide training for its recruits.

Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, possess a valid driver’s license and be at least 21 years old by next May.

“KDPS desires candidates with integrity, a strong work ethic and a desire to serve our Kalamazoo community,” the news release said.

Those who successfully complete the hiring process can expect to receive an offer of employment in May 2021.
