KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Kalamazoo County Government (KCG) announced today that they're hiring registered nurses (RNs) for the Health & Community Services Department to assist with the local COVID-19 response efforts.
The temporary positions will be located in a 24-hour temporary isolation facility delivering nursing care, providing education, and conducting disease surveillance.
Those hired will help provide direct acute care services, active disease surveillance and education to Kalamazoo County homeless individuals to ensure appropriate investigation, and treatment and prevention of further transmission of disease while under quarantine for COVID-19 in a local 24-hour isolate and quarantine facility.
Those hired will have the potential to be exposed to bodily fluids and communicable disease (COVID-19). RNs must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to include N-95 mask, gown, and gloves.
All necessary PPE will be provided during shift. The OSHA Final Rule Occupational Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens Act, Category A., covers this position.
