COMSTOCK TWP, Mich. — The courts have granted the request for a competency evaluation on Comstock Township murder suspect, William Jones.

Jones will be evaluated by the Center for Forensic Psychiatry over the next 60 days. The courts will have 5 days to schedule a hearing once the evaluation is complete, which will likely push the trial into the new year.

Kalamazoo County Prosecutor, Jeff Getting, tells FOX 17 any hearing dates already scheduled will automatically be adjourned until the CFP submits their findings.

Jones is accused of killing Christopher Neal after breaking into his home, then allegedly shooting at 3 Kalamazoo officers.
