KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Two teens were hospitalized after shootings that took place in the same area but are unrelated, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.
A 19-year-old was riding in a vehicle on Douglas Ave. and W. Paterson St. around 12:14 a.m. on Sunday, when he heard gunshots and then realized that he had been shot.
He then checked himself into a nearby ER, where officers were able to speak to him, and he is expected to be ok.
Around 5:09 a.m., officers were called to Douglas Ave. for another shooting, and they found a 15-year-old who had also been wounded by gunfire.
The teen had reportedly been walking nearby when a vehicle drove by and an unknown suspect shot him.
