WYOMING, Mich. — Michigan’s labor department has fined a Wyoming company nearly $118,000 for failing to have a safe worksite.
Jasper Weller does transmission repairs for vehicles and stores salvaged transmissions. During an inspection by the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration last fall, there were three potential safety violations found.
The company was cited for using an industrial truck outside of its rated capacity, moved transmission parts in modified baskets that don’t prevent them from falling while moving, and didn’t properly secure transmissions on pallets being stored on racks.
Jasper Wells received a fine of $117,900 as a result of the citations.
