WYOMING, Mich. — Wyoming police say they did not respond to any confirmed shootings other than the double homicide Wednesday afternoon, and there was no active shooter situation despite rumors on social media.

The department did receive a few reports of possible gunshots throughout the night, but none were confirmed, said Kimberly Koster, director of public safety.

Wyoming police are still looking for the shooter who killed a teenager and young man in Wednesday’s incident.

The shooting happened about 4:45 p.m.

Investigators say the two victims were walking together off of Wilbur Street and Division Avenue when someone in a dark-colored SUV shot at them.

The 16-year-old died at the scene and the 20-year-old died at the hospital.

Names of the victims aren’t being released as of Thursday afternoon.

Police are asking the public to keep an eye out for the vehicle.

The investigation continues.
