ALPINE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A gun store in metro Grand Rapids was broken into, but the owner says the suspects got away with nothing.

Flashpoint Firearms and the Kent County Sheriff's Office say someone smashed the front glass on the store located on Alpine just north of 6 Mile Road around 5:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Surveillance photos, provided exclusively to FOX 17, show a person swinging a hammer outside the store.

That same person jumped through the broken glass, but a locked gate inside the store prevented them from accessing any of the guns and ammunition inside.

The owner says workers always make sure to lock down the store before closing, crediting the policy with preventing this attempted theft.

The Kent County Sheriff's Office is investigating the break in.

Flashpoint Firearms continues to sell t-shirts to support the family of fallen state police Trooper Caleb Starr.

100% of sales are being donated because the store is covering the cost of the shirts.
