SEATTLE, Wash. — With many states in the U.S. still recommending people stay home as much as possible, online retailers have been seeing a big increase in sales during the pandemic.

Now Amazon is looking to hire 100,000 new employees across the United States and Canada, including 3,600 positions in Michigan.

In the Grand Rapids area, Amazon says it wants to add more than 1,500 people in full and part-time roles. That's in addition to the more than 13,500 job openings the company already has in Michigan.

Amazon made record profit and revenue between April and June, as more people turned to it during the pandemic to buy groceries and supplies.
