Officer in unmarked vehicle target of shooting

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A Grand Rapids Police Officer escaped any injury when someone opened fire on his unmarked patrol car.

The officer was on patrol Wednesday night, June 24, near the area of Cass Avenue and Pleasant Street around 10:30 p.m. when several shots rang out, according to a release.

At least one bullet hit the cruiser.

The officer was able to drive away without being hurt.

So far investigators have not releases any details about the shooter, or why they opened fire.
