GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Leaders in the local Muslim community are praying for peace amid growing tensions in the Middle East.

At the Islamic Center of West Michigan in Grand Rapids. Dr. Sharif Sahibzada is teaching the importance of humanity.

“We have to be righteous, we have to be loving people, we have to look after our neighbors we have to sympathize. If God has given us sources and means we work for the betterment of humanity,” Imam Sharif Sahibzada said.

His comments come after Iran vowed retaliation after a U.S. ordered drone strike killed the country's top military leader.

“We must work for the peace and create heaven and loving atmosphere for humanity,” Sahibzada added.
