GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — After a few employees tested positive for COVID-19, Joey's Tavern announced on Facebook that they will be closed for the next few days so that they don't aid in the spread.

"Joey' s family and friends, we will be closing Monday afternoon until Thurdsay at 11AM," saidthe Tavern on their Facebook Page. "We're doing this to ensure we aren't aiding in the spread of Covid 19. We're having our employees get retested to make sure when we reopen we represent an environment people feel safe going to. A couple employees did test positive last week. We can assure you no one who was tested positive was allowed to work. We have been cleaning in accordance to the Kent County guidelines and CDC recommendations as well. That being said we're trying to be part of the solution and not the problem. Please be understanding and bear with us! Thank you from the entire Joey's staff!"

Many other bars around the area are taking similar precautions, like the Social House, in order to keep residents of Grand Rapids safe.
