GRPD responds to shooting with school bus caught in crossfire

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Grand Rapids Police Department (GRPD) responded to a shooting that happened earlier today on the city's southeast side.

Just before 4 p.m. today, a GRPD officer driving southbound on Kalamazoo at 36th St. SE when he saw a moving vehicle shoot at another moving vehicle.

This officer, who did not have the capacity to chase the subject in their private vehicle, informed surrounding patrol units.

A Dean transportation school bus was caught in the crossfire of the incident.

Although there was 1 student on the bus, no one was injured in the incident.

There are no known injuries to those in the vehicle shot at.

As of Monday evening, neither vehicle involved in the incident has been found.
