GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Michigan’s attorney general is investigating a Grand Rapids-based business that sells wireless earbuds online.

BlvckPods, an online retailer operated by two teenagers, has received complaints from around the world about not delivering on orders or providing faulty goods. People have had messages to the company about not receiving orders bounced back, ignored or blocked.

The issues resulted in complaints to the Better Business Bureau and now an investigation by the Michigan Attorney General’s Office.

The attorney general says people buy the headphones thinking they are produced and shipped from Grand Rapids, when in reality the company is running a “drop-shipping” business by taking orders and relying on a Chinese company to fill them.

Drop-shipping is not illegal in Michigan, but can create problems when done incorrectly.
