GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A nine-year-old boy was injured after GRPD confirmed that he accidentally shot himself on Sunday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. at Emerald Creek Apartments on Grand Rapids' Southeast side.
Adults were inside the home when the boy somehow got ahold of the gun and shot himself in the arm.
The boy was taken to Helen DeVos Children's Hospital for treatment on non-life threatening injuries. He is in stable condition
Police have contacted child protective services regarding the incident, as GRPD detectives plan on following up.
