KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Kalamazoo County has reported its first death due to the coronavirus.
The individual was an "older adult" with underlying medical conditions, according to the Kalamazoo County Health & Community Services Department this afternoon.
The county received notification of the death today.
The health department "urges" residents to comply with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's stay-at-home order to "help stop the spread within our community."
"Everyone should take the recommended precautions seriously and practice prevention, such as staying home and washing hands," the county said.
