Michigan reports 483 new coronavirus cases, 15 new deaths

MICHIGAN — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 115,870.

The number of cases increased 483 from yesterday, when there were 115,387 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon. Yesterday, the state reported 695 new cases.

The state says there have been 6,653 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.

The number of deaths has increased 15 from yesterday, when there were 6,617 deaths.

Today's death totals include 12 deaths identified during a vital records review.

Yesterday, the state reported six new deaths.

Statewide, 85,513 people have recovered from the virus as of Sept. 18. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."

In the U.S., there are 6,749,092 cases, and there have been 198,940 deaths — while 2,556,465 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
