130,842 coronavirus cases confirmed in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 130,842.

The number of cases increased 1,016 from yesterday, when there were 129,826 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon. Yesterday, the state reported 903 new cases.

The state says there have been 6,847 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.

The number of deaths has increased nine from yesterday, when there were 6,838 deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 22 new deaths.

Statewide, 99,521 people have recovered from the virus as of Oct. 2. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."

In the U.S., there are 7,525,255 cases, and there have been 211,405 deaths — while 2,952,390 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
