A place that usually has a roaring crowd at the crack of a bat will be filled with impressive vocalists as Take Me Out to the Opera comes to Fifth Third Ball Park on Saturday, October 24 at 6:30 p.m.
It will feature a live simulcast performance of Mozart’s comedy Così fan tutte, or School for Lovers, on the jumbotron. Take Me Out to the Ballpark is part of Opera Week, which features a series of events that kick off Oct. 19. Opera Week also includes discounts and special deals at participating restaurants and businesses.
The in-person performance – before a sold-out limited-capacity crowd at the East Grand Rapids High School Performing Arts Center – will feature artists on their own mini-stages for safe physical distancing.
Così fan tutte is a comedic masterpiece of disguises and deception gone wrong as a cynical bachelor and clever maid take two couples to the school for lovers. The cast includes Grand Rapids natives Christine Amon and Corie Auger.
General admission tickets for Take Me Out to the Opera are $25. Student and Metro Health frontline worker tickets are $5. Tickets are available here. Temperature checks at the door are required and face coverings are encouraged as part of Opera Grand Rapids’ COVID-19 precautions.
