Supporting local is part of a new Meijer initiative to support local restaurants and show appreciation for their team. Meijer will be providing meals from different local restaurants between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
With nearly 300 Meijer facilities, hosting multiple holiday appreciation meals for their team members, Meijer estimates local businesses will cater more than 1,000 holiday meal events in its facilities by the end of the year. This means serving 250,000 individual meals to its team members across the Midwest.
A recent example of this is last Friday, Dec. 11, Meijer on Alpine, used Grand Rapids based Terra Bagel to provide bagels and bagel sandwiches to feed the store's 300 team members.
As a family-owned business, Meijer knows small businesses are vital to local communities and wants to do what it can to support them during this difficult time.
