Celebration of Soulstarted out as a concert that was part of the Grand Rapids Symphony’s season each year, 20 years ago. Sixteen years ago a dinner gala was added to the evening before the concert. This year the event will still offer music and award presentations, but is a one hour online/virtual event on February 27 at 7pm.

Enjoy musical performances by the GR Symphony, Debra Perry & Majestic Praise, and Marvin Sapp. The event focuses on the importance of cultural awareness and inclusion in West Michigan. The evening highlight is the presentation of the Dr. MaLinda P. Sapp Legacy Award to 3 honorees: GR Black Nurses Association, Dr. Keli Christopher, Jermale & Anissa Eddie for Malamiah Juice Bar

The Celebration of Soul event supports the Mosaic Scholarship Program. Mosaic Scholars are talented African-American and Latinx teenage students who receive one-on-one lessons from a Grand Rapids Symphony musician including the use of a musical instrument, music, supplies, and tickets to Grand Rapids Symphony concerts, at no cost to the student.

There are five concerts remaining in Pathwaves virtual concert series that runs through June. For ticket info, visit grsymphony.org
