With things like technology taking the kids attention, it's nearly impossible to get the kids to play outside. The Thrive Outside Grand Rapids initiative is taking away technology and providing kids with a winter wonderland experience in Michigan's beautiful landscapes with the upcoming Freedom Outdoors event on January 18.
Students in 5th through 12th grade are invited to come out for a day of free winter activities, food, and giveaways.
Activities at the park include snowshoeing, fat-tire biking, a scavenger hunt, and yoga. These events will happen with or without snow, so dress accordingly to the weather conditions.
5th - 12th graders.
Freedom Outdoors will take place Saturday from 12 to 3 p.m. at MLK Park, located at 900 Fuller Ave SE.
The event is completely free, but students are encouraged to register at grandrapidsmi.gov. Or register by phone by calling (616)-456-3696.
These adventures are presented by Thrive Outside, a community initiative to connect Grand Rapids youth with outdoor experiences
