NORTON SHORES, Mich. – A Norton Shores man is dead after apparently drowning in a pond behind his home.

Police say they were called to the home in the 5500 block of Henry Street Tuesday night on reports that a 61-year-old man was missing from his home in the area.  Norton Shores Police and K-9 units from Michigan State Police searched overnight but didn’t find the man.  The search resumed Wednesday morning with the Michigan State Police helicopter and they found a piece of clothing floating in the pond behind the man’s home.

The Norton Shores Dive Team then found the man in the pond.  His identity has not yet been released.  Investigators are still interviewing family members and witnesses to determine what happened to the man.

Anyone with information should call Norton Shores Police at 231-733-2691 or Silent Observer at 1-231-72-CRIME.
