CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- One person was killed Wednesday morning when a car and a semi collided on 36th Street east of Patterson Avenue in Cascade Township.
The crash occurred just before 6 a.m., and 36th Street was closed for a few hours during the morning commute. The street is a route from I-96 to the Gerald R. Ford International Airport. The alternate route is 28th Street to Patterson Avenue to the airport entrance.
Deputies say that David Flentje, 47, of Lowell, was heading west on 36th Street when he hit a semi-truck and trailer that was making a left turn from a driveway onto eastbound 36th Street. Flentje died at the scene.
The driver of the truck, a 50-year-old Caledonia man was not injured.
Deputies are still investigating the crash.
