Traffic Update: New projects include road closures and lane closures

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Labor Day usually marks the beginning of the final sprint to the end of the road construction season. The number of new projects Tuesday is an indication a lot of work needs to get done.

I-196 in Grandville

  • Lane closure at 28th Street until 1 p.m. Tuesday (9/6)

US-131 in Grand Rapids

  • Left lane closure northbound at Leonard Street will return.
  • Through Sept. 13.

US-131 in north Kent County

  • Lane closures on northbound and southbound US-131 between 17 Mile and the Montcalm County line.
  • Through October 18.

US-31 in Holland

  • The major project between 8th Street and Quincy Street continues.
  • Quincy Street closed at US-31 for intersection work.

US-31 in Grand Haven

  • Lane closures for concrete work on northbound US-31 from Ferris Street to Comstock Street Tuesday (9/6)
  • 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Leonard Street in Grand Rapids

  • Lane closures on Leonard Street for repaving between US-131 and Division Avenue.
  • Work will be at night until October 31.

Division Avenue in Grand Rapids

  • Lane closures on Division Avenue repaving between I-196 and Leonard Street.
  • Work will be at night until October 31.

Alger Street in Grand Rapids

  • Alger Street closed west of Plymouth Avenue.
  • Bridge repair over the CSX railroad tracks.
  • Until November 30.

10 Mile in Sparta

  • 10 Mile closed between M-37 and Alpine Avenue.
  • Through September 30.

Diamond Avenue in Grand Rapids

  • Northbound Diamond Avenue closed for repaving between Michigan Street and Leonard Street.
  • Southbound Diamond Avenue open.

16th Street in Holland

  • 16th Street closed west of US-31 for work on the railroad crossing.
  • Sept 7 – 14.
  • Use 8th Street.

Morse Lake Avenue over I-96

  • Morse Lake Avenue closed over I-96 for bridge work.
  • Until October 31.
  • Use Alden Nash Avenue.
