Traffic Update: Pesky I-96 lane closure is over

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A lane closure on eastbound I-96 backed up traffic Tuesday morning to Fruit Ridge Avenue. That lane closure won’t be back for a while.

The Michigan Department of Transportation tells me that a short return of the lane closure Wednesday morning ended before 8 a.m. and will not return for several weeks. And when crews return, they will be on the westbound side. We’ll keep you updated.

I-196 BL in Zeeland

  • Intermittent lane closures between I-196 and 112th Avenue.
  • Wednesday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (8/31).

US-31 south of Grand Haven

  • Lane closures between M-45 Lake Michigan Drive and Hayes Street.
  • Wednesday 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

US-31 Muskegon

  • Lane closure northbound at Marquette Avenue Wednesday (9/1) from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Complete closure of the northbound lanes at Marquette Avenue Wednesday (9/1) from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Removal of damaged sign on the Marquette Avenue overpass.

M-96 Dickman Road in Battle Creek

  • Lane closure fo repairs on Dickman road at Helmer Road
  • Through Friday, Sept. 2

M-121 in Jenison

  • One more day of lane closures.
  • Eastbound M-121 Chicago Drive from 12th Avenue to Main Street.
  • Westbound M-121 Chicago Drive west of I-196 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
