Good news! No double lane closures this weekend on US-131

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — There will be no double lane closures this weekend in the construction zone on southbound US-131, says John Richard, representative for the Michigan Department of Transportation in the Grand Region. The current single lane closure from I-96 to Leonard Street will remain.

Last weekend, the first full weekend of the project, saw long delays on the highway most of the weekend.

The project is in its first phase where the right lane is closed at Ann Street. The second phase, which will begin around July 7, will see traffic shifted to allow a left lane closure.

The ramp from Ann Street/Turner Avenue will remain closed until the end of the project in September. The other ramp closure, the exit ramp from southbound US-131 to Leonard Street, will end July 7.
