KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Wednesday is a day that many people had been hoping would arrive: the day that Abigail Kopf gets to return home from the hospital.

Abbie is the 14-year-old girl who survived a gunshot wound to the head in the Kalamazoo shooting rampage on February 20.  She had been pronounced dead at the hospital, when, through the squeeze of a hand, she came back.

Abbie's parents, Vickie and Gene Kopf and Abbie

Abbie has been recovering and undergoing physical therapy at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital in Grand Rapids and will continue rehab for the foreseeable future as an outpatient.  We're getting a first-hand look at how those sessions are going with her dedicated physical therapists and doctors. You can follow her recovery at a Facebook page created by family.

Abbie's parents, Vickie and Gene Kopf,  say they are amazed at how far Abigail has come and they can't thank the staff and nurses enough for all they've done for their family.

Mary Free Bed produced the video below that shows Abbie going through her rehab.  We'll have more throughout the day on FOX 17 News.
