ST. IGNACE, Mich. — “Let’s beat the number of Mini-Coopers, ATVs and farm tractors that have crossed the mighty Mackinac Bridge as a group,” says the web page that has information on this weekend’s first-ever “Jeep the Mac” event. Only Jeeps are allowed, but April 20 is the deadline to register.
Two days of activities April 22-23 are planned for Jeep owners who pay the $35 fee to register, including a “Blessing of the Jeeps,” meet-and-greets, and a post-ride trip to Drummond Island for music and food.
Hundreds of Minis rolled over the Mighty Mac in 2015 but fell short of the record for the largest number of Minis in a parade. Another attempt is planned for 2017.
