Speight leads Maize to win in Michigan Spring game

ANN ARBOR, Mich — Junior Wilton Speight completed five of six passes for 46 yard and a touchdown and added a rushing score to lead the the Maize team to a 14-13 win over the Blue team in Michigan’s spring football game.

“14 practices are for this game (the coaches) kept reiterating that this is your chance to make your stamp and improve your resume heading into the four month off season” Speight said.  “I was fortunate to make some plays out there and my guys helped me out a lot and we feel good going into the off season as a lot better team.”

The Blue scored with eight seconds left in the 4th quarter on a six yard run from senior quarterback John O’Korn but the two-point conversion was stopped.  O’Korn, a transfer form Houston, was 6-14 for 93 yards through the air in the game.

Drake Harris (Grand Rapids Christian) had a 29-yard reception on the games opening drive to set up the Blue teams first score.
