GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – It was a good day to be a kid in West Michigan. Snowy conditions shut down several dozen schools around the area, which meant fun in the cold for thousands of school children.
But the benefits weren’t just for those missing classes. Many local businesses, whose business plan revolves around the youth, also cashed in on the lack of school. Sky Zone in Kentwood opened a full four hours early in anticipation of the rush.
“We get calls all the time wondering if we can open up early,” said Briana Doolan, an events manager at Sky Zone, “so today it seemed like common sense to open up early to give them something to do. As the weather gets a little worse outside we do see a lot of guests come in trying to find something to do when the weather isn’t so great.”
