WYOMING, Mich. – A child is in critical condition after running in front of a car Saturday evening, according to the Wyoming Department of Public Safety.
Police say that a little after 8 PM, Melissa Guzman, 8, ran northbound across 28th Street near Wyoming Ave SW with her two 11-year-old brothers. The brothers stopped in the left turn lane, but Guzman continued and was struck by a 2003 maroon Chevrolet.
Wyoming Fire / Rescue were at the scene almost immediately. Guzman was taken to the Devos Children’s Hospital, where she is in critical condition.
Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.
The accident is under investigation.
