WALKER, Mich. — A fatal traffic crash closed down westbound Interstate 96 at U.S. 131 on Monday evening.
The Michigan Department of Transportation announced the highway had been shut down at 5:44 p.m. All westbound I-96 traffic was being diverted to northbound U.S. 131.
The Walker Police Department was investigating a multiple-vehicle crash at the scene. A 52-year-old man died after being struck in the westbound lanes of I-96.
The investigation continues and the man’s identity has not been released.
No one else was hurt.
