KALAMAZOO, Mich.-Family and Children Services announced Tuesday it has raised $4.5 million as part of its $5.1 million "Making Room for Hope" campaign, a fundraising effort to upgrade and expand its facility at 1608 Lake Street in Kalamazoo. Family and Children Services has been in operation for more than 100 years, and currently serves families in Kalamazoo and Calhoun County, along with seven other counties.
With the expansion, Family and Children Services hopes to re-purpose its counseling center, add a family visitation and support center and training rooms for adoptive and foster parents. They still need to raise nearly $600,00, but once they do, they hope to break ground as soon as possible.
