LOWELL, Mich. — Drivers got their direct connection between downtown Lowell and I-96 back last Friday. The Hudson Street/Segwun Avenue bridge over the Grand River, closed for several weeks for reconstruction, was reopened two weeks early, the Kent County Road Commission announced. The construction schedule had the bridge closed until July 2.
The rehabilitation of the bridge included replacement of the deck and expansion joints.
Drivers were forced to use the Division Street bridge over the Grand River, and a temporary four-way stop was installed on M-21 Main Street at Jackson Street east of downtown Lowell.
