EAST LANSING — Regina pitcher Marissa Tiano allowed just 2 hits and struck out 9 leading the Saddlelites to a, 5-0, win over Caledonia in the division 1 softball state championship game Saturday at Michigan State’s Secchia Stadium.
The Fighting Scots got singles from Ashley Miller and McKenzie Butgereit. Freshman Sammy Gehrls pitched 5 innings allowed 7 hits, 5 runs, all earned, walked 2 and struck out 4. Taylor VanZytveld pitched the final 2 innings allowing 1 hit, 1 walk and striking out 2.
Caledonia finishes the season at 34-5.
