Unionville-Sebewaing hands Holton its first loss of the season in the state semifinal

EAST LANSING -- Holton senior pitcher Rachel Younts was cruising through the first 3 and 2/3 innings Friday before Unionville-Sebewaing struck for 3 straight 2 out hits to plate 2 runs.  U.S.A went on to hand the Red Devils their first loss of the season, 4-1, at Michigan State's Secchia Stadium in a division 4 softball state semifinal.

The Patriots added single runs in the 5th and 6th innings.

Holton (37-1) got on the board in the top of the 6th on an RBI triple from senior center fielder Jacki Stone.  Stone had 2 of her teams 4 hits in the game.

Younts pitched 6 innings allowing 7 hits, 4 runs, 4 earned runs while striking out 8.

Unionville-Sebewaing (37-3) will play Kalamazoo Christian in the division 4 state championship game Saturday at 3 p.m..
