CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Lane closures on 36th Street will not begin April 6 as originally announced.
Earlier notices from the Kent County Road Commission give April 6 as the start date for construction between Patterson Avenue and Kraft Avenue. Recent postings have changed the start date to April 13, after Spring Break.
Lane closures during the construction will continue through July 3.
That section of 36th Street has been a less congested route to Gerald R. Ford Airport from the north as an alternative to using 28th Street from I-96 to Patterson Avenue. Traffic is heavier on 28th Street, and drivers experience delays at a number of traffic lights. On 36th Street, there is only one traffic light between the 36th Street exit off I-96 and Patterson Avenue.
